As part of the Windows 8 release campaign from Microsoft, I was given the opportunity to build out a micro-site for Microsoft to publicize the App development opportunities with the Windows Marketplace.
The Windows 8 site itself comprised of a series of pages on app build learning resources and events developers could attend prior to launch (known as DevCamps).
The biggest factor of this page build was aesthetics. As this was one of the first Microsoft sites to showcase the new Modern UI (at the time named 'Metro'). Fonts, spacing and colour had to be exact to reflect the new look operating system.
The page itself used simple HTML and jQuery on top of asp.net but the details were in the jQuery animations (before CSS transitions were more common).
